is the word 'diary' better than the word 'blog'? probably not.

Pizza. And the Continuous Death of Pop Music.

Pizza. And the Continuous Death of Pop Music.

Tonight at Paulines Pizza, Leah, Evany and I had some fine wine (brought by Leah), and some crazy pizza. E and L had a pork-shoulder and blackberry pizza. We all shared a squash, fontina, shallot and thai-basil pizza, and a nectarine sundae. Then we went back to my place and had some chateauneuf-du-pape. Liz showed up. We listened to Bow Wow Wow in anticipation of Fridays show at the Pound. Evany was excited about Cowboy. I myself still am stuck on See Jungle!. For some reason that foray into the 80s led me to play some Talk Talk. Then of course we complained about the No Doubt cover of Its My Life. Liz said that Gwen Stefanis vocal ability would be better suited to Dum Dum Girl (its not a diss. that is a good song) or Such a Shame. But, really, I dont think Id be impressed until No Doubt covered something like Desire or Happiness is Easy or one of the other longer pieces that takes patience and concentration, musically speaking. But, of course, if they did, wed never hear it because it wouldnt be on the radio and no one we know buys No Doubt records. The end. You see the problem. Youve seen it all your life if you care about popular music and what it might have been. Gwen Stefani has an interesting voice, but it has mostly been used to benefit the forces of darkness, and not in a good way. Good night.
