Cats of Anarchy.
Gus's cat, Thurgood--who may or may not also be my cat... none of us is quite sure about that--isn't supposed to eat any cheap catfood. None of the dry Iams stuff that he loves so much. None of the crack-laden cans of Friskies or 9-lives you can get for cheap at the nearby Kmart. No, he has to eat some crazy low-something-or-other stuff to keep his mancat bladder from exploding. And you have to special order it from the fancy vet practice in the suburbs. But of course sometimes we (by which I mean Gus) forget to special order the catfood in advance when we're running low, so we end up having to feed him some kitty crack for a few days. And then he goes wild. CatHog wild. He turns into a junkie with crazy eyes who also happens to think that every hour is feeding hour. At the time of feeding he becomes frenzied, like he couldn't possible eat it fast enough so as to adequately convey to us How Good It Is. And then after eating he runs around the apartment doing crazy acrobatics. And then occasionally he vomits from the excitement.
The funny thing is that he isn't like that when he eats the good-for-him catfood. Or if you feed him dry Iams. With those foods he'll eat the food but he won't go crazy. So it makes me wonder what in the samcro Friskies is putting in their catfood to get the cats all hopped up and addicted to it. Because it is total Cats of Anarchy up in this here condo when we run out of the expensive healthy oldcatmanbladder catfood.
A related mystery: is it strange that on the cover of every Friskies can or pouch there is a cat doing a terrorist catfist jab at me?

you can order the special food online (the people call your vet to confirm) and even have it automatically redelivered every X weeks! i use petfooddirect.com for our 'sploding-bladder character. (she is 17 years old so i forgive her.)
