is the word 'diary' better than the word 'blog'? probably not.

Vampiric Vocalizations.

Here's one of those things that probably only works as funny for a very small sliver of the population. That sliver would consist of the cross-section of people who like both 1970s Bryan Ferry/Roxy Music and the much more recent movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall (first appearance on-screen of Russell Brand as British rockstar Aldous Snow, though he's not my focus here).

You know how in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, the Jason Segel character (Peter Bretter, the one Sarah Marshall dumps) writes a vampire musical, that he performs using puppets, and sings in a crazy vampire voice? You would think that would have to be a unique accomplishment, you know?

But his crazy vampire voice is totally similar to the voice Bryan Ferry uses in the song "Strictly Confidential" on Roxy Music's 1973 For Your Pleasure album. I am not joking.

For Your Pleasure is one of my most-favorite-ever albums. "Strictly Confidential" is closer to the bottom than the top of my ranking of songs on the album... (Top of the list: "Beauty Queen," "Grey Lagoons" and "For Your Pleasure.") ...however, this is Album-Oriented Rock, so it all sounds better if you listen to the whole damn thing in one sitting.

I often listen to the whole thing twice in a row while cooking or baking.

Anyway, my main point: What do Peter Bretter and Bryan Ferry have in common? A facility with vampire cantando.

I'll leave you to compare for yourself. It cracks me up.
